just put the pictures on the computer, so here they are. I know I should do this better, but what can I say, I’m me.

The kids fell and scraped their knees a few hours apart. Auretta in the morning (right after Patrick got his finger slammed in the door) and Patrick did it in the afternoon. It was a long day.

Auretta got new underwear. She loved it so much, one pair just wasn’t enough!

Happy Birthday Chad! He reviled to me the week before that he doesn’t like cake. I have never seen him pass up cake saying, “no thanks, I don’t like cake.” I don’t even think I have ever seen him pass up seconds. But ok, no cake, chocolate cookies it is. and a quiet night at home with a movie. Boring birthday for me, but a great one for him.

ince I put up my running schedule, I have been reminded how many people read our blog. I don’t get a lot of comments on this but I have gotten a few from talking to people lately. And there seems to be a misunderstanding about my running that Chad thinks I should clear up on here.

I am not running to lose weight! That is a benefit only. And to be honest, I haven’t lost that much weight.

I am training for a half marathon for a lot of reasons, I was going to tell you, but I can’t they are personal to me. But I do want to make it clear that weight lose is not my motivation.

ince moving to Utah two years ago, I have joined two book clubs. I absolutely love them! The first one I joined, I loved because it was girl’s night out. Occasionally I really enjoyed it because of the book. The one I’m in right now I love for both reasons. I have been touched by the books I read, enlighten by the conversations we have and fallen in love with the woman.

The book we are reading right now is Tess of the D’Urbervilles It is the hardest book I have read for a book club. Normally I would quit, but I keep going because my friend named her first born Tessa after it. I wanted to know why, so I kept reading. And behind the really confusing language is an amazing woman and a timeless lesson.

That is what this blog is really about. A timeless lesson.

Her husband is judging her for past deeds, that is all you really need to know for my favorite quote. Ready, here it comes, drum roll please….

“In considering what Tess was not, he overlooked what she was, and forgot that the defective can be more than the entire.”

And I just want to testify that is true. Do not discount the defective, whatever that may be. Homeless, alcoholic, whatever. Small thing, big thing, past, present. The Lord can and has worked miracles in people from day one. He can and He will do it again.  We don’t know what is in another’s heart. And we don’t know what the Lord can and will do in another’s heart. So remember, “the defective can be more that the entire.”

t’s that time of the year again. The snow is melting (or completely gone), trees are beginning to bud, and 16 teams are starting the most exciting event of the year.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs have begun!

I will probably not get to watch much of the games this year, busy busy you know, but I do intend to follow my team until they get to hoist the cup (or fall flat on their faces, as the case may be).

GO AVS!

This time of year hasn’t really been all that nice for my team (Colorado Avalanche, just in case you didn’t get that from the cheer above)  since 2001. That was the last year they won the cup, and the last time thy did anything of note in the playoffs. I guess they did make it in 2002 to the Western Conference Finals against Detroit and lost in a game 7, so that was pretty good I guess. But every year they have made it to the playoffs since (and they haven’t made it every year mind you) they have been eliminated in either the first or second rounds.

Come to think of it, this has been the case ever since the great Patrick Roy retired. How sad.

Sure Anderson does well during the season (and this season he has done pretty good (lets not look as the last dozen games)).  I guess we shall see if he (or Budaj I guess) will step it up and help this years team make it a little farther (even a game 7 would be nice).

So for all of you AVS fans out there, the first game they play in this playoff season will be on Wednesday night on either CBC or VERSUS (if you are privileged enough to get either of those channels).

I have an amazingly supportive husband, and a beautiful trail to do my long runs on. So here’s to the next few months and an almost impossible dream coming true.

P.S. Auretta wasn’t enjoying the stickers I got for potty training, so I am using them for running. The purple smiley faces make me feel pretty good. Give me a couple weeks, then come and look at all my stickers. :)
